Bitter Gourd that is not Bitter

Executive Chef Anurudh Khanna, The Park New Delhi, showcases his new version of contemporary Indian cuisine at The Fire restaurant. Holding here, Kurkure Karele Ki Chaat ( crispy bitter gourd ).

Why Bitter gourd??
As a chef, it excites me to create and innovate new forms out of ordinary ingredients. I want people to savor different and even not so liked vegetables. The whole idea of creating chaat out of bitter gourd was to  tempt even the fussy youngsters to try this delicacy.

3rd HAI Hoteliers' e- Conclave 2013

The 3rd e- conclave of Hotelier Association Of India, went off very successfully at The Oberoi Gurgaon.
What was I doing there - very proudly flashing my organizer’s card.Oh yes !! I was part of the core committee team that worked on it completely and it was pure hard work.

The venue was spectacular, arrangements impeccable and panel discussions fabulous. The whole idea of doing an e- conclave was to be relevant to todays’ times as Nakul Anand, the President of the Association stated how these are the times of Seismic Shifts.
Some of the key pointers ( as per me) that I felt were interesting from all the panel discussions are:
 1. “Yoga is adult baby sitting” - Michael Tchong
2. “Onwers invest for their ego and want return on investment for Banks” - Manav Thadani, Chairman, HVS
3. “You can slow India down and not stop” - Jyotsna Suri
4. “Decline of the west and rise of the east” - Nakul Anand, President HAI, Chairman, ITC Hotels
5. “Invest properly upfront in technology to save waste” - Wong Chiu Man
6. “Hate technology that is smarter than you” - Divia Thani, Editor Conde Nast India
7. “Technology is not necessarily expensive” - Priya Paul, Chairperson, Apeejay Park Hotels Limited
8. “Won’t know how to build hotels any other way than green hotels” - Ranjan Relli,
9. “Maha kumb, shows that India has the cabibility and model to do such events with great success” - Devesh Chaturvedi, Divisional Commissioner, Maha Kumb
10.” In India, from April - all countries can get landing visa” - Parvez Dewan, Secretary Tourism India.

Ofcourse there were more relevant discussion than the above pointers but for me the most enjoyable bit was to be able to network and share our plights with fellow colleagues and peers across the industry. Hope we continue to keep meetings and cheering - Abha Dayal, GM - Corporate Relations - ITC Hotels, Silki Sehgal - Director Corporate Communications - Oberoi Group , Charulata Sukhija - Director Marketing - HAI , Saurabh Bhatnagar - GM North, Taj Hotels and a great thumbs up to Mr Suresh Kumar, CEO - Fortune hotels, and Sanjeev Kumar - Fortune Hotels who spearheaded the conclave.

How can I forget to share the stylish Mr Bickson - Red sole shoes - we women found you to be totally stylish Mr Bickson.

A Contemporary Goan Susegad - The Park on Candolim Beach

Yes I am the first guest at The Park on Candolim Beach…and yes its great…
I have been working on the opening of the goa project for almost a year now and have been so looking forward to visiting the hotel.

I love goa..don't ask why..guess most of us who have been there have got enveloped into ofcourse the beaches..booze..music..and fun…I love the feel and laid back attitude of the people. It just stops me and makes me feel why are we running and for what...
Anyways, so yes some perks of heading the corporate communications for the group…you are the first few ones who gets to experience( though after lot of waiting)…so here I come goa!!!

super excited and all set for goa
Though my trip unfortunately was not for fun and pleasure, it was for work..but who minds as long as its going back to the city I love the most...
The opportunity came forward as my fantastic UK PR agency head - Tanya was working on getting host of UK journalist to a spa expedition in south of India and decided to get them to goa too...

well we were all set and excited!!
Saurabh - Director of Operations with a goan guitarist welcoming the journalists
We were hosting them to an exclusive preview of the hotel, as we were only expected to start by December. Honestly I was a bit sceptical and worried as I had not seen it earlier and was hoping we would be able to showcase the best that we can offer..To my relief the hotel has shaped up very well and seemed pretty and very niche. The hotel has lot of fresh appeal to it… the most fabulous thing of ofcourse is it is location.

The restaurant called ‘Love’ serving world cuisine is right on the beach and to our delight  served fabulous food..never thought could eat such fantastic fine dining cuisine in goa..
